It rained today.
I love the rain. I love it when it soaks into my bones and freezes there and doesn't thaw for three hours.
I love it when my hair gets soaking wet and I have to throw it up on top of my head to make it look halfway decent. And then sometimes it doesn't even look halfway done but I don't care because it's raining.
I love it when there are huge puddles to spalsh in and my feet get soaking wet and the water beads on my toenails.
I love it when it's quiet and all you hear is the "saawiiiishhh" of cars driving through rivers in the road.
I love finding ways around the lakes that develop in the Willetts parking lot.
I love carrying an umbrella and trying to balance it with a backpack and 3498203 other things.
I love the sound of it on the leaves, the way the birds sing quietly and the gentleness of it all.
It didn't thunder today. It was a good rain day. Hopefully it will rain on Thursday when I can hide under the heated blanket and sleep or read for hours without interruption. I'll listen to "Raining on Sunday" and pretend that it is Sunday and I have someone to hide out with me.
I bet Beth would hide out with me.
Pray for rain on Thursday. Tomorrow is clear and cold and that's okay too.
I love the fall.
