Last night three of my favorite people in the world came over: Ralphie, Dave and D. We watched a movie with my mom and it made me content. I cuddled with Ralph and Dayna, and Dayna rubbed my head.
Today I got a long lunch break and drove over to the barn. Spot is still really tender in the front, so I soaked his feet in hot water and painted venice terpentine on the bottoms. I hope it's just from getting new shoes and not an abscess or something. I'm Googling absecesses right now because his front left is a little hot. It might just be from overworking.
There are kittens at work! They're about a week old and got abandoned in the dumpster outside shipping. The guys in shipping brought them inside and we're bottlefeeding them special kitten formula from tiny bottles. They're adorable. I wanted to take one home, but my mom definitely said no. We have too many animals and people running around to begin with. But I can enjoy them and play with them today. Wally's taking one home, so I might go see him and visit it after I'm done working here.
Off to see the baby cats and cuddle the runt. Later: back to check on my pony and see Anna's softball game.

Life is crazy right now, but crazy good. Fireworks are a good time to recuperate. Also, thank God His mercies are new every morning.
Friday -- We went to Mandy's birthday party. Broke the pinata and stashed loads of candy in the front console of the Expedition. I had a good talk with Tricia Quinto, Katelyn's mom. She made me realize that all girls everywhere deal with the same issues, and yes, some guys simply are jerks. We picked Crystal up and inducted her into the Ho Patrol. Word. Ashley came over, and we all snuggled onto the mattress in the family room with our personal pints of Ben + Jerry's.
Saturday -- After I dropped Rachel and Crystal off at softball practice, I scooted right along to Dave's house. I played 'Battleship' with Joel and ate banana bread. We proceeded to begin beaver hunting for the day. I wore Wellies (opting out of the chest waders Dave chose) and Dave, Joel and I charged the river, wielding machetes and axes. The beavers, however, were ready for us. Instead, we chose to chop up a tree for firewood. By this time, Rachel, Crystal and Erik had arrived and we formed a tree carrying brigade. I drove the trailer and forgot to look out for Anna's feet. Oops.
Around noon, we went to Chattfield Hollow, all nine of us in the minivan with our swim stuff. Dave and Ben were sneaky sneaky and got me by my arms and legs. I was launched into the lake. It was only the first of the abuse I was to suffer that day. Ben insisted on pitching tennis balls at my butt when I was sleeping on the beach and we played keep away in the water, intermingled with wrestling and some weird form of tag. I went for a walk and just sat on this rock in the water and prayed and enjoyed nature. Dave and I went to Roberts' for food and I had to go inside in my bathing suit. Good job, Sarah.
Dave's house for hamburgers and hot dogs. We got to see Ashley for a few minutes when she picked up Crystal; it made me happy.
The night was capped by the Guilford fireworks. We had good seats; the ash from the sky fell on us, especially during the finale. I sat next to Pater and he told me about his favorites. It was so beautiful, and the night was so perfect (possibly because this time I remembered my bug spray). It was a good night for remembering and forgetting.
Sunday -- I grandma sat all morning, and got a lot done around the house. It was good. After lunch, I ran over to the barn to see my pony, and then to Dayna's to see the Divine One herself. We called all of our friends, cuddled under the blankets and ate chocolate and marshmallows. Raw s'mores. Mmmm. The two of us ate at the Half Moon -- pepperoni pizza with my ever-present Snapple peach iced tea. After a trek to Southington, we picked up the third member of our posse, David William. Hitched it to Fairfield for church and a visit with the Paks.
Guess who was there?
Jesse Butler Ranslow.
It was an exciting moment. Lots of hugs and laughing and out to eat at the diner.
Monday -- work. Bible study. "Who Wants to Marry My Dad?" Long talks with Crystal. Missing my sister.
And my boy.
As you can see, it's been a crazy weekend. I'm going to go home now to take the nail polish off of my fingers and toes and eat with my mom and watch a movie with my David. Later.
