It was the best weekend ever. I know, I know, I say that all the time. But it was an amazing time.
On Friday, we left and went straight to Nate's. We were STARVING (of course.. I'm always starving) by the time we got there, so we went out to eat with his family. It's one of my favorite things to do because we have amazing conversations with his parents and generally make fun of each other constantly. Plus it was Chinese, and we all know how I feel about Chinese food. After dinner, we considered going to see a movie, but wound up back at his house. I slept while "The Incredibles" was viewed for the 290384th time. Nate and I tried to watch the first Harry Potter.. we made it halfway through, fell asleep, woke up and talked and talked and talked.
Mrs. Sowder had gone to bed when I fell asleep so she and I had to finish the movie yesterday. Of course. And watch the second one.
On Saturday, Nate and I took Cameron to lunch at Chick-Fil-A and visited the Children's Museum. I was fascinated by the miniature rooms, and we all had fun finding out how strong our grip was. You should all be in fear - I have the strength of a baby chimp. And it turns out I'm really good at writing stories for shadow puppets. Nate and Cameron climbed behind the glass where the trains were and I couldn't stop laughing. Which is sort of a trend in my life right now.
After dinner at Olive Garden, Nate and I went to an Indians game. His parents were worried about keeping us warm, but it turned out to be fine. We sort of watched the game, sort of watched other people and sort of had a really great conversation. Punctuated by laughing. I prayed about being a Pacers fan, and decided it might be a good idea since I haven't had an NBA team that I've followed since 1994 (who needs the NBA when UCONN won the ladies
and men' championships last year?). Besides, Nate likes my Sox and was fully supportive of the Pats. A couple in front of us really wanted to do things that they shouldn't in public, but left the game. I am assuming because there were small children in the area. We ate hot dogs and took pictures. Post-game, we went to Barnes and Noble. One of the many things I really appreciate about Nate is the way he lets me wander through bookstores and take my time. He never rushes me, or tries to get me to go where he wants to go. He listens to what I have to say, and reads with me when I ask him. It's one of the little things that makes our relationship so good.
Plus, he surprised me with Godiva chocolate and bought me an iced caramel macchiato. So good. We stayed up late again. I think the caffiene in the chocolate + coffee helped.
Yesterday, we went mushroom hunting. I couldn't find any, so I started looking for other things. I found a nest of baby rabbits and some snails, so I was entertained. The mushrooms were really good when they were fried. I'm not usually a big fan of fungus, but this worked. We were lazy all afternoon, with the viewings of Harry Potter. I helped Nate study for Foundations and we watched "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". I also got to taste firsthand how good my boyfriend is at grilling. We had steak and burgers and macaroni + cheese. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it again. We got back just in time for curfew, thanks to an emergency stop for medicine for my migraine.
I want to go get ice cream in the SSC, but it's pouring rain. So I'm going to stay safe and inside.
